A few answers to the questions I frequently get asked

How did you get into DJing?

I’ve been working as a professional DJ for twenty years now. I started around 1995 in U2’s The Kitchen club in Dublin, Ireland. Becoming a professional DJ and promoter around ’99, I worked in every major club, bar and festival in the country. 

Why did you decide to specialize in weddings?

Moving to Tarifa in 2006, I concentrated on weddings and events working from Malaga to Tarifa, with a busy schedule in Gibraltar also. I have done more than eighty weddings and events in the past six or seven years and I can say, twenty years on from the beginning that I love my job now just as much as I did then. 

What do I get when I book you for my wedding? Do I have to provide the equipment?

I take full responsibility for all the sound and lighting equipment for your big day. You don’t have to worry about anything concerning music, sound and lighting when you book me.

What sets you apart from other wedding DJs? Why should I book you for my wedding? My little nephew is a great DJ, too.  

Technology makes it easy for anyone to DJ, of course. But it is vital to know that the job as the wedding DJ is as much a sound engineering one as it is to play music. Often there are three or four separate set-ups in different locations with speakers, cables, microphones etc. It’s about someone taking responsibility for all of the audio on the big day… As well as playing music! 
Also, working with couples before their big day is my specialty. In the months leading up to the wedding, we fine-tune exactly what music you want to hear and when, with as much or as little input from me as you want! And of course your nephew is more than welcome to be my guest DJ for an hour (or longer).

Could you describe the process of preparing your DJ set for a wedding with the bride and groom?

This is the part I really enjoy! Building up a playlist over the course of months with the couple (usually over e-mail or occasionally Spotify). Getting to know their likes and dislikes. So when I arrive on the day, we are very comfortable with each other and the couple can relax and enjoy themselves.

How does your typical day at a wedding look like?

Arrive on location early morning. Set up for ceremony, Set up for cocktails / canapés in second location and play music for that. Set up for dinner. Play background music and handle microphones and live sound for speeches. Set up and play music for the party, often until 4 or 5 in the morning.

Your favourite song at a wedding?

My favourite moment is the time when, during about half way through the first dance, when the couple are starting to relax, having got through the first few steps. 

What price range can I expect?

Depending on the size of the group, around 700 Euros. This includes all equipment and as many consultations as you like. In fact, the more communication before the event, the better it is. If you have a very small wedding, don’t hesitate to contact me and we can make that happen, too.
